FAQ about Waterjet Pumps
What should I consider when choosing a waterjet pump for my cutting system?
The right waterjet pump depends primarily on the required operating pressure, cutting application, material, desired productivity and the configuration of the overall system. BFT offers high-pressure pumps with operating pressures from 55,000 to 90,000 psi. The pump should be selected as part of the complete waterjet cutting machine setup to ensure that pressure, flow rate and cutting requirements are properly matched.
What is the difference between 60,000 psi and 90,000 psi waterjet pumps?
The required pressure depends on the specific cutting application. BFT offers several waterjet pumps at 60,000 psi, while HYPERTRON® reaches up to 90,000 psi. Higher operating pressure provides additional options for demanding waterjet applications. The appropriate pressure level should always be selected according to the material, cutting requirements and overall system configuration.
Can BFT high-pressure pumps be used for both pure water and abrasive waterjet cutting?
Yes. Waterjet technology can process materials using either pure water or an abrasive waterjet. In abrasive cutting, solid particles are added to the waterjet, making it possible to process a very broad range of materials. Selecting the appropriate waterjet cutter pump and system components depends on the intended cutting process and application.
How can preventive maintenance improve the availability of high-pressure water pumps?
Preventive maintenance helps identify service requirements before they result in unplanned interruptions. BFT high-pressure water pumps can optionally be connected to the network, allowing remote maintenance by BFT. This provides an additional way to support reliable operation and simplify maintenance planning.
